  • Round 2 of SUZUKI ASIAN CHALLENGE opens in Indonesia

    2015 SAC Rd2 Day 1

The SUZUKI ASIAN CHALLENGE, a new category in the Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC) this season, opened in Sentul International Circuit, located in the outskirts of Jakarta, Indonesia.

The SUZUKI ASIAN CHALLENGE is a rider development program by SUZUKI for riders from Asia. It is produced and operated by world-known motorcycle racer, Yukio Kagayama. The series uses the SUZUKI FU150 resembling the MotoGP Team SUZUKI colors in this single-platform race. The riders come from all regions in Asia, and will have the opportunity to step up to the ARRC Supersports 600 category, the national championships in Japan and Europe, and Moto GP in the future.

Two races will be held in each race weekend. The opening round in Sepang, Malaysia saw two winners by two different riders from two different countries.

Sentul International Circuit will be hosting this weekend’s Round 2 of the series. The 4.12km track consists of 12 turns in a flat terrain. The track is very bumpy, and that makes this track as one of the most difficult for the riders.

Two free practices were held on Day 1, which will be followed by qualification and Race 1 on Day 2, and Race 2 on Day 3.

    Yukio Kagayama | General Manager
“The season has been coming and going fast, and we already in Round 2. I would like to thank SUZUKI, the sponsors, the team, and the fans for the success we are experiencing.
The young riders representing their countries, have once again gathered not only to learn and improve in their riding skills, but to grow as a better racer. I wish the riders will end this weekend with success, and enjoy racing at the same time”

    Hideyuki Ogata | Rider Coach
“Unlike the opening round at Sepang, where the riders had the opportunity to test in prior to the race weekend, the riders started to ride on Friday, and will have to qualify and race on Saturday. This will be an advantage for the riders that have experience at Sentul, but I believe that all of the riders have the potential to go fast at this track. I am looking forward to see the improvement in each rider, and also see how they perform in this difficult race track.”
