The 2016 season for FIM Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC) opened at Johor Circuit, Malaysia, and 3 practice sessions took place for Team KAGAYAMA SUZUKI Asia on day 1 at the Pasir Gudang track.

After this day, there will be no more practice sessions, as qualifying and Race 1 is scheduled for day 2, and warm-up and Race 2 for day 3. Both riders spent the day concentrating on race set-up and tire choice.

In combined results, Haga finished 14th with a lap time of 1’32.797, while Patis finished 19th with a lap time of 1’33.764.

This is my first ever season in the Supersports 600 category, and I need to learn not only the course layout, but have many other things to learn.  Today followed Haga and learned many things including the running line, braking points, and throtle work. I was a able to find a decent set-up, and all I have left to do is to improve on my lap time. I will try to follow the leaders tomorrow, and give it my 100%.

The track condition have changed from the last week’s test here, so I struggled a bit to find a better set-up. I couldn’t improve my lap time significantly, but average time is better now, and I did improve my best by just a bit.  We were able to find the problem in Practice 3, so that’s a good thing. We should be able to make it better tomorrow, and hope to do better at qualifying.
