Jefri Tosema leads Day 1 of the 2016 SAC Season Opener
The 2016 season of the SUZUKI ASIAN CHALLENGE (SAC) opened March 31st at Johor Circuit in Malaysia. The riders having tested at the same venue a week ago, came back all prepared and ambitious for their first race of the season.
#5 Jagan Kumar (India) have withdrawn for this weekend, as he suffered multiple fractures due to a crash he sustatined at the official test a week ago. #78 Md Iqbal Quzaimy (Malaysia) became the final rider to be accepted to the 2016 SAC.
The riders have already spent 5 practice sessions during the test, so it did not take much time for them to bring themselves up to speed. By the end of Practice 1, most riders have improved their best lap times, and the leaders were lapping at 2’00’s. #20 Jefri Tosema (Indonesia) lead the group in day 1, with a lap time of 2’00.732, and most riders finished within 3 seconds of the leader.

Some riders needed some time to get used the weights they had to put on, but they will need to get used to it as SAC tries to make the race in equal condition as much as possible. I have seen them ride from the test, but many of them are up to speed from the first session, and I see that the group this year are faster than last year.
I wish that they can spend their practice sessions more significantly by being more prepared before the session starts.
