Points for Team KAGAYAMA SUZUKI Asia at Suzuka
The 3rd round of the 2016 FIM Road Racing Championship is back in Suzuka, Japan, with qualifying and Race 1 took place on day 2 of the race weekend.
Team KAGAYAMA SUZUKI Asia riders, #98 Patis Chooprathet (Thailand) and #41 Noriyuki Haga (Japan) used the three practice sessions on trying to set up the Suzuki GSX-R600. Haga qualified 16th with a lap time of 2’13.416 and Patis 24th with a lap time of 2’15.808.
Race 1 started in good track condition, with both Haga and Patis moving up their positions. In Lap 5, the race was stopped due to an machine that fell and burned up after the final chicane. The race was restarted with only 5 laps left in the race. The race results were calculated from both heats, and Haga finished 12th in the points, while Patis finished 21st.
Noriyuki Haga | #41
I changed my setting from day 1. The feeling is not bad, but other problems arose and the machine became a difficult one to ride. I was able to set my best lap in qualifying, but I qualified in a position that I am usually am this season. Race 1 was difficult, as I had to race in this situation. Tomorrow might be a wet race, and I finished the podium last year in the rain, so I hope I can do the same.Patis Chooprathet | #98
I was running well in Heat 1 of the race, but the tire grip level fell in Heat 2 and the race finished. But I was able to rewrite my best lap so, I will aim for a higher position tomorrow.Yukio Kagayama | Team Manager
Patis was able to run in a good pace until the red flag. He moved up until 17th at one point, so I was expecting him a good finish, but he was not able to do that. I will try my best to help find a solution where he can keep a higher position. I apoligize to Haga for not being able to send him out without solving the problem. I will try my best to provide a better bike tomorrow.
